The 2011 MAZDA3 is an entry level compact available as a 4-door sedan or 5-door hatchback. Engine choices for the sedan are 2.0/2.5-liter 4-cylinder engines that produce 148/167 hp and 135/168 lb-ft of torque, the latter being the only available engine in the hatchback trim. The 2.0-liter engine is available with a 5-speed manual/automatic transmission while the 2.5-liter comes with a choice of a 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission. Both the sedan and hatchback are only available in FWD and get an EPA estimated 22 mpg city and 29 mpg highway with the optional automatic transmission available with the 2.5-liter engine. For those keen on gas mileage, the 2.0-liter engine with the standard manual transmission will deliver an EPA estimated 25 mpg city and 33 mpg highway.
